Nowadays at Fuchs Schmierstoffe GmbH, a modern production of oils and lubricants is inconceivable without information technology. The resulting data are worth gold: they provide information about the product itself (in the resource planning system – ERP) and about the materials used (in the process control system – PLS). To achieve the desired product quality, it is important to monitor and control the complex process at various points. In addition to the work steps, this also includes the individual ingredients and work equipment. An overarching analysis of this data is often complicated because the data hides in different systems and varies widely in the formats. If you want to look for unknown correlations, traditional BI solutions usually do not help. The task of the analysts at SDSC BW was therefore to examine the production process with modern smart data technologies and to look for these unknown correlations in order to detect optimization potential.
